The Station started its water impoundment on October 27, 2003. Its first generating unit will be put into generation on April 1, 2004 according its planning.

The data measured show that the vertical and horizontal displacements of different points inside the dam are mainly caused by rock filling of the dam and water impoundment of the reservoir. The results also show that the crack water pressure in the dam foundation is proportional to the water level in the reservoir.

In order to study the performance of CFRD, regression analysis and inverse analysis are adopted to investigate the observed data of displacement of the rockfill dam under and after construction. That is an experimental dam in the seventh Five Year Plan of our country. Statistical models and mixing models are established. The findings show that the observed data of displacement of the rockfill dam can be detached according to independent variable factors, that the creepage of the rockfill body during construction can not be neglected and that there are intervals between the experimental values and the values of inverse analysis of parameters of stress strain relation of the rockfill body. If the observed data after water impoundment are analysed and the prognostive equations are established, the monitoring and feedback about safe performance of CFRD can be realized.

Based on the analysis of the measured data from 1986 to 1992, it is concluded that during the low water season on the lower reaches of the Yellow River, the outage period was annually shortened by 2. 14 months, the water supply was increased by 1. 15 Gm3, therefore, the 2 reservoirs make a great contribution to easing the water shortage on the lower reaches of the Yellow River.
