The Chongqing Huaihua railway is one of the main railroads of road network in the plan of western exploitation being put in force. The whole road, 624.523 km, goes through all layers from Proterozoic Group to Quaternary (except Carboniferous layer), which are mainly made up of classic rocks, soluble rocks, epimetamorphic rocks and loose sediments. The main geologic structure through which the railway goes is a fold belt being made up of a set of north north east bundle of fold. The geologic hazards in the Chongqing Huaihua railway are characterized by section developing. They include slides, collapse sloping deposits, bedding and flexible rock slopes, inburst of karst water, leakage of surface water, collapsing of reservoir bank, soft soil, expanding soil, gas from coal seams. Based on the experience and lesson of treating with geologic hazards in railroad industry, the authors put forward the principle that different disposing measures are taken according to different geologic hazards in the Chongqing Huaihua railroad. For example, the authors try their best to avoid sections which develop lots of big geologic hazards. If the road must go through these sections, the related engineering measures ought to be taken.
