The authors of this articie find out that platycarya strobilacea tannin can effectively eliminate toxic metal ions such as Cr 6+ ,Cu 2+ ,Fe 3+ ,Fe 2+ in water by chelation, and main factors affecting chelation reaction are quantity of platycarya strobilacea tannin added, time of quiescent settling and PH value of reaction system,in which the quantity has remarkable effect. Percentage of removal of the ions can reach 65%-90%.
Thallium(Tl) is a toxic metal that is widely distributed and dispersed in naturalenvironments. The average concentrations of Tl in metamorphic rocks are 0.65μg/g; 0.1-3.0 μg/g in sedimentary rocks, and 0.05-1.5 μg/g in igneous rocks, against a higher value of up to 3.2μg/g in granites.
The micro-nuclear test in Vicia faba root tips cell was utilized to study the toxic metal Cd(1 mgL~(-1)~25 mgL~(-1)) and Pb(1 mgL~(-1)~25 mgL~(-1)) and the combined pollution on Vicia faba root tips cell, and analyze mitotic index and total frequency of aberrations of Vicia faba root tips cell mitosis.
static adsorption capacities of methylene blue from solution (500mg/L) are 141.2mg/g and 835. 1mg/g for printing and dyeing waste water both decolorizing effciency of waste water and removing efficiency of toxic metal ion are over 90%.
Hydrogeochemistry and environmental effect of toxic metal elements have been studied related to both the mining activities and natural processes in a typical Au-As-Hg-Tl mineralized area in Southwest Guizhou Province.
Among the resilient species that survived a wide range of doses of toxic metal, ranging from low threshold to high lethal levels, were those possessing flexible structures and the ability to grow after toxic stress.
Mean toxic metal concentrations (geometric means for liver and kidney respectively) were 11.5 and 15.8 μg/kg wet weight for As, 56.3 and 166 μg/kg for Cd, 32.7 and 51.9 μg/kg for Hg, and 60.1 and 23.6 μg/kg for Pb.
Tolerant cells isolated by exposure to one of the metal ions remained tolerant after growth in the absence of toxic metal ions and were cross-tolerant against the other two toxic ions.
Examining the toxic effect of heavy metal pollutants is essential for exploring heavy metal water environmental capacity. In this paper, the toxic effect of different metal species on hydrobios and methods for the determination of toxic metal species have been reviewed. Proposed methods for qualitative description and quantitative estimation of heavy metal water environmental capacity are given.
Chitosan resin adsorbent and chitosan-active charcoal composite adsorbent have been prepared through suspension polymerization and composition respectively. The influence of factors on preparation and the properties of both adsorbents were also studied. Both adsorbents have been used to decolorize and remove toxic metal ion from waste water in printing and dyeing process. Results show that specific surface areas of two adsorbents prepared in this condition are 82. 9m2/g and 937. 3 m2/g respectiv...
Photocatalytic reduction detoxification of Cr6+ ion in TiO2 dispersion, photocatalytic redox synergism in the presence of Cr6+ and some different organics have been studied. The implication for the application of photocatalytic redox decontamination in the real pollution system of co-existed toxic metal ions and organics are presented. The results indicate that Cr6+ can be reduced and detoxified remarkably with TiO2 as catalyst. The reaction atmosphere has negligible ef fect on Cr6+ reduction. C...
