Extensive literature has emerged on the fracture behavior of metal matrix composite materials. However, very few of the articles were publi shed on the fracture behavior of soft metal matrix composite materials.The purpose of this paper is to research into the fracture process of lead-base alloy composites which are reinforced with carbon fiber by using liquid infiltration method. Their tensile fracture features are investigated with the scanning electron microscope. The conclusion is as follows ,the plastic property of the matrix, interfacial strengch between carbon fiber and matrix and the distribution of fiber in matrix all influence the fracture path of lead-base alloy composites to a large extent.The authors point out that the combination of strength and ductility of metal matrix and a strong interfacial bonding of fiber and matrix should be required for soft metal matrix composites.

本文旨在通过碳纤维增强铅基复合材料的断裂过程分析,探索软金属基体经纤维增强后其复合材料的断裂行为。作者选择了纯Pb、Pb-Sn10%、Pb-Sn5%-Sb17%三种不同成份的合金作为基体制成复合材料,拉断后对断口进行了宏观和扫描电镜观察,结果表明:基体本身的机械性能、纤维与基体间界面的结合强弱及纤维在基体中分布均匀程度均影响铅基复合材料的断裂过程,从而影响复合材料的拉伸强度。因此文章指出,软金属基复合材料欲获得高的断裂强度,应选择强韧性有一定配合的基体,并具有适当的基体与纤维的界面结合强度,纤维在基体中的均匀分布也应设法保证。

A review is given of development of the metal matrix composite materials in China during the present time. Particular topics of introduction and discussion include the reinforcements, matrices and various species of metal matrix composites, the new fabrication techniques and applications as well as the research work dealing with the interface behaviors, mechanical properties and fracture process of the composites, especially for the Chinese literatures which involve in these topics are concerned....

A review is given of development of the metal matrix composite materials in China during the present time. 本文对金属基复合材料目前的进展进行了综述,内容包括增强体、基体及各种金属基复合材料;新的加工技术和应用,以及有关金属基复合材料的界面行为,力学性能和破坏过程的研究情况,特别着重介绍了国内的研究工作,对金属基复合材料在今后的发展中如何充分发挥潜力也作了设想。

The manufacturing process for the metal matrix composites of SiC whisker/aluminum alloy is being developed. The process consists of the fabrication of the whisker's preform and the fabrication of the composite billet by liquid metal infiltration. The manufacturing process for the metal matrix composites of SiC whisker/aluminum alloy is being developed. The process consists of the fabrication of the whisker's preform and the fabrication of the composite billet by liquid metal infiltration. In this way the composites with 17% volume fraction of SiC whisker are manufactured. The microstructures of the as-fabricated composites have been examined. The whiskers in the as-fabricated composites are random which results in the isotropic mechanical properties of the composites. Both the tensile strength and the elastic modulus of the asfabricated composites were improved obviously compared to the material with no whisker and the marked strengthening effect by whiskers are observed. Experimental results show that the tensile strength of SiC whisker reinforced composites changes with the temperature in same tendency as that of the matrix alloy. SiC whisker reinforced composites appear good high-temperature tensile strength compared to the matrix. The bond between the whiskers and matrix is perfect.

本文工作集中于SiC_w/Al复合材料的制备、材料的微观结构分析和高温瞬时拉伸试验三方面。结果表明,用高压铸造法制造SiC_w/Al复合材料是可行的。用该方法制得的复合材料造价低廉,界面结合良好,具有优良的室温、高温强度和足夠的塑性。
