Simple close form expressions for STTD's theoretical performance with or without channel estimation error in flat Rayleigh channel are derived. Simulation comparison between STTD and the two closed loop transmit diversity modes shows that when the maximal Doppler frequency is small the closed loop modes have better performance, but when the Doppler frequency increases this doesn't hold. STTD tends to have a better performance in that case.

An analytical model of data capacity in TDMA/FDMA cellular systems is developed for the performance evaluation of different adaptive modulation schemes. Based on a channel model which free space lose and flat Rayleigh fading are con- sidered, the capacity model can be used to analyze the affection of different factors such as channel estimation error, user mobility and retransmission on system performance. Finally, as a typical case, two adaptive modulation schemes axe analyzed in this paper.
