It compares nan ostructured ceramic coatings to their conventional counterparts in terms of grinding forces and surface finish.Grinding is conducted on a cylindrical grinding machine with vitrified bond di amond wheels.Tangential grinding forces are obtained through monitoring spindle power and the ir variations are studied with process parameters such as depth of cut, feedrate and wheel gri t size. Surface finish of the ground coatings is evaluated using surface profilometry and scanni ng electron microscopy. Based on the applications of surface profilometry and scanning elect ron microscopy, the effects of the process parameters on the average roughness of th e ground coatings are investigated.
