The clinical data including the pathological types, treatment, and long term results were retrospectively analyzed. Results Astrocytomas((29.6%)),ependymomas((16.0%)),and epidermoids((13.6%)) were the most common pathological types in pediatric intramedullary tumors. Moreover, the pathological classification was related to resection rate.
Methods Eighty-one patients with pediatric intramedullary tumors proved by histopathology were treated by microsurgery, which were analyzed retrospectively.
Results Astrocytomas(29.6%),ependymomas(16.0%),epidermoids(13.6%) could be frequently seen in pediatric intramedullary tumors. Motor function damage was frequent. Next was pain, sense damage and sphincter dysfunction.
