The method uses the resistance sensor and the fuel substitute. The paper describes in detail the principle of this method, the construction of the resistance sensor, the character of the fuel substitute, the locating aim method as well as the measuring instrument and device. The authors have measured the fuel film thickness by this method under some types of the nozzles, some injection back pressures and some shapes of the head of the piston. These measurements prove that the method provides an effective foundation for the combustion chamber design.

The authors use the simple contact method of the upper sliding blade to get the signal of the fuel film thickness. For the spray of the hole nozzle, the fuel film formed on the moving piston top has been measured. The experimental results show that the repeatability of this measuring device is quite good and this method is efficient. Some variables are changed in such ways as the injection angle of the nozzles, the injection time and the speed of the engine. The best fuel film distribution...
