Interfacial heat transfer parameters bring significant effect into the accuracy of computer simulation of solidification of casting.In this paper,the heat transfer behaviour at mould-etal interface as well as the formation of air gap during solidification process of castings was studied by measuring the temperatures as veil as movements of casting and mould.Interfacial heat transfer mechanism and the transient variation of air gap at the interface were also discussed.
