Scattering regularities of γ quantum in an infinite medium are used to deduce a mathematical relationship between the strength of quantum N and ash content of a coal sample A~f, i.e. N = N_0-K_0A~f. A theoretical formula R=1.73/μ for determining the design parameters of the probe can then be deduced. It provides the basis for designing and developing transducers and indicators for the digital low energy γ-ray ash monitors.
