To analyse the drought spatio-temporal pattern in China for a long time with remote sensing, the study focused on Regional Drought Monitoring Models only based on Remote Sensing data.
According to regional drought character and purpose of water resources engineering risk researches, the paper made a comparison between two kinds of methodologies of characterizing regional drought and analyzing risk of regional water supply, on basis of expounding three main indexes of expressing drought character, generally called reliability, resilience and vulnerability.
The long- term average daily soil moisture are used as drought determinants. After statis-tical analysis,a method for analyzing severeness of regional drought,specially for plain area,has been given whilea quantitative criterion of drought has been set up the method has been put into test utilization for the HuabeiPlain.
