In april, 1964, a meeting was summoned by the Peking Botanic Gardens, Research, In-stitute of Botany, Chinese academy of sciences, to discuss the various problems concerning the research project on improvement of grape varieties. Among other topics, the procedure and technique of grape breeding received a great deal of attention from those who attended that meeting. This paper attempts to present the results of discussion on this topic.

今年4月,中国科学院植物研究所北京植物园在北京召开了“葡萄品种选育的研究”专题第一次会议,讨论并制定了“葡萄杂交育种程序(草案)”。根据这个草案,从杂交到决选出预备新品种,在一般情况下,需时15至17年。会上对何时开始繁殖优良单株,对复选出来的优良单株和进行比较试验时观察测定的项目等问题,展开了热烈的争论,这些问题,关系到育种年代的长短,杂种苗各种经济性状的稳定程度,以及观察测定所需工作量的多少,是值得重视和继续探讨的问题。本文根据讨论结果,加以整理,供各地葡萄育种工作者的参考,并请提出修改补充的意见。

The resistance to Crown Gall of 13 wild Vitis species native to China,including 26 clones,were systematically studied by field artificial inoculation. The results showed that there were 10 highly resistant clones and proved that the Chinese wild Vitis species are extremely valuable germplasms resistant to Agrobacterium tumefaciens. V.yeshanensis (♀) is easily rooted by cutting,and might be used as resistant rootstock to Crown Gall;the other highly resistant clones can be used for grafting experiment...

Great progress has been made in the application of in vitro culture,especially embryo culture and ovule culture,in seedless grape breeding When hybridization using seedless grape cultivars as parents,in particular stenospermic seedless genotypes as female pareat,hybrid seedlings could be obtained by means of ovule culture before the hybrid embryos lose their fetility.The proportion of seedless could be as high as 82% as reported and even reach 100% in theory.The key issues of ovule culture include the selection of suitable parents,the knowledge of ovule abortion period,the selection of hormones in culture medium and the promotion of embryo germination.

葡萄组织培养技术,特别是胚、胚珠培养技术在无核葡萄育种研究中发展迅速。利用无核葡萄品种作母本,特别是利用假单性结实的无核葡萄品种作母本,用无核品种作父本进行杂交,合子胚还未败育时,采用胚珠培养技术可以得到杂种实生苗。这种杂种实生苗无核比例较高,可以达到82%,理论上可达100%。选择合适的亲本,掌握无核葡萄胚珠败育时期,培养基激素的选择,以及如何促进胚的萌发,是正确利用这项技术的关键。
