In this paper it was first studied systematically that the relationship between the vibrational spectra and the properties of two ceries of tungsten and molybdenum heteropoly compounds which have Keggin type structure HnXw_(12)O_(40)·nH_(20)(X=B, Ge, Si, As, P) and HnXMo_(12)O_(40)·nH_(20)(X=Ge, Si, As, P).
The heteropoly compounds of HnXW12O40、Na3AsW12O40、HnY Mo12O40、HnMW12O40 are prepared,and their Ultraviolet spectra are measured. The relation between Ultraviolet spectra and the nature of central ion is also studied.

The present paper reports nine new heteropoly compounds of tungstotianophosphates containing rare earth elements. i.e., Ln 2H[PTi 2W 10 O 40 ]· x H 2O(Ln=La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Yb, Lu). They were characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV, 31 P, 183 W NMR.
It has been proposed that Mo-O-P bonding might be formed on the surfaces of the samples with certain composition. This bonding might be analogous to that in thier heteropoly compounds. The excellent denitrogenation activity of MoO_3-NiO-P_2O_5/γ-Al_2O_3 catalyst might be related to its surface acidity modulated by P_2O_5.

The surface acidity of MoO_3-NiO-P_2O_5/γ-Al_2O_3 and their components supported individualy on the γ-Al_2O_3 surface has been studied systematically.It is of interest to note that the surface acidity of P_2O_5/γ-Al_2O_3 or MoO_3/γ-Al_2O_3 is higher than γ-Al_2O_3 itself,but,when P_2O_5 is added to MoO_3/γ-Al_2O_3 or MoO_3-NiO/γ-Al_2O_3 samples,thier surface acidities drops markedly.This tendency of decrease is independent of the methods of adding P_2O_5.The results clarify some umabiguous concepts reported...
