In this paper, an investigation of the laser chemical etching of the Nickel-ironalloy(Ni=52%) in sodium nitrate solution by using a relatively low power Argon-ion laser hadbeen made, etching rates had been determined as a function of laser power and solution concent-ration, etching mechanism had been analysed.
The best alkali chemical polishing solution for aluminum and its technological conditions are as follows. 300 g/L sodium hydroxide, 250 g/L sodium nitrate, 20 g/L thiourea, 10 g/L sodium silicate, 1.5~1.8 g/L sodium lauryl sulfate, at 60~70 ℃, polishing time 80~100 s.

The effect of sodium nitrate (NaNO3) and sodium peroxide (Na2O2) deposits on the high temperature oxidation of Nimonic-105 (N-105) alloy at 700℃ has been studied for a period of 120 h in air.
