X-ray diffraction spectra of spherical low-temperature iron catalyst A110-5Q, rare earth doped spherical iron catalysts and natural magnetite are measured by a XD-3A Model X-ray diffraction spectrometer. The phase structures of rare earth oxide doped spherical iron catalysts for ammonia synthesis are compared with the natural magnetite and catalyst A110-5Q. The results show that all the catalysts contain (Fe3O4)56F phase, but the height of the diffraction peaks of (Fe3O4)56F phase is lowerd step by step and wiistite in the catalysts is decreased with the increase of the doped amount of rare earth oxides. This effect is even more evident for doped catalyst with both CeO2 and Sm2O3,The following chemical reactions may occur in the melting process of catalyst preparation:2CeO2+2FeO-Ce2O3+Fe2O3Sm2O3+ 2FeO-2SmO + Fe2O3 They result in the decrease of wiistite (Fe1-xO).

By means of Mossbour spectrum studies of natural magnetite grains, associated with other methods as electrical probe, X ray diffraction, alternating demagnetization and remanence studies of sandstone from Jidong oil field, Hebei province, the authors of this paper investigated the relations between hydrocarbon chemical adsorbtions and magnetic remanence stabilities. It is recognized that hydrocarbon chemical adsorbtions could decrease the remanent stabilities. The prelimitary results provide a foundation for understanding various causes of remagnetization, searching for new demagnetization methods and applying rock magnetism to study geological problems in oil bearing stratigraphy.
