First of all ,we must realize the industrial application of polymer flooding as early as possible because it isvery applicable to the geological conditions of continental reservoirs in China. The mecha-nism of chernical combination flooding must be studied because its increased recovery ratio istwo times that of polymer flooding. Chemical conibination flooding is characterized by toomuch surface active agent for use, complicated mechanism and difficult popularization;therefore, thefurther research on it is necessary. Furtherrnore , we need to seek other tech-niques to improve recovery ratio, such as microbial recovery, gas injection niiscible (or non-miscible) drive . thermal recovery and various physical field rnethods.

An introduction is made of the technical principle of microbial recovery and the laboratory research method on microbe's role in reducing oil viscosity.The factors that affect testing results are discussed.An analysis of the test results indicates that microbes have different viscosity-reducing effects for crude oil from different wells,ranging from 6.18% to 57.04% with most wells' record varying between 20% and 30%.
