Phase composition,microstucture and mechanical properties ofSi_3 N_4-TiC-Co ceramic composites were investigated by SEM,TEM and XRD.It was found that TiC exists in the form of TiC and TiN whereas Co in theform CoSi.Mechanical properties were improvcd by the addition of TiC andlike structure of S_3N_4 was obtained when using Y_2O_3 as sintering additives.

Withstand voltage characteristics of donor-doped semiconducting BaTiO_3 ceramics was studied by means of process tests, property measurement, and microscopic analysis. The results show that withstand voltage characteristics of the ceramics is not only correlated with both effects of PTC, voltage-dependent resistivity, but also with glass phase in microstructure. The results show that withstand voltage characteristics of the ceramics is not only correlated with both effects of PTC, voltage-dependent resistivity, but also with glass phase in microstructure. Samples containing mullite crystallites in microstructure, formed by adjusting the ratio of Al_2O_3 and SiO_2 sintering additives, have good withstand voltage characteristics. Withstand voltage equation is derived, showing the relationship between withstand voltage characteristics and various factors, according to the principle of heat equilibrium. The experimental phenomena in this study is discussed by means of the above equation.
