This paper presents an algorithm for designing an optimal controller for power system stability. The controller is designed by using the dynamic programming in discrete-time domain and then reversing back to continuous system. Compared with the algorithm, using the max. principle, the designing procedure here is facilitated with allowable errors in engineering practices. The corresponding relations between discrete and continuous system controller parameters derived in this paper are quite simple. An illustrative example is given herewith.
