    A new digital simulation method for the study of transient voltage stabilities in electric power systems is presented in this paper. With the aid of this simulation method, it is studied to improve transient voltage instabilities that result form large indution motor loads by Static VAr Compensators (SVCs) in radial electric power networks. It is demonstrated from the simulation results that SVCs are able to prevent transient voltage collapse due to large induction loads and to make voltage recover and maintain approach the value before its disturbance. The digital simulation method and the models of the SVCs presented in this paper provide a practical means for the study of transient voltage stabilities in electric power systems and for the parameter selection of the SVCs and their controllers.
