The wheat scab, mainly caused by Gibberella Zeae (Schw.) Petch, is the most damaging disease in the Winter Wheat Region of the Mid-Lower Yangtze Valley. Wheat cultivars of scab resistance with high-yielding potential are needed to be developed urgently for wheat production. For this reason, we have engaged in wheat breeding for scab resistance since 1975. The results obtained are summarized as follows:1. The wheat scab, mainly caused by Gibberella Zeae (Schw.) Petch, is the most damaging disease in the Winter Wheat Region of the Mid-Lower Yangtze Valley. Wheat cultivars of scab resistance with high-yielding potential are needed to be developed urgently for wheat production. For this reason, we have engaged in wheat breeding for scab resistance since 1975. The results obtained are summarized as follows:1. A large number of breeding materials were firstly screened in the nursery where the inoculation was done by spreading the infected seeds onto the soil surfaee,Advanced lines showing resistance were further evaluated by inoculating flowers with the conidial suspension by dripping or injecting under the moisture-maintaining condition in the infected nursery, and multilocation tests of better advanced lines for scab resis- tance were conducted in heavily prevailing region. The degree and stability of scab resistance in wheat can be effectively identified by these procedures.2. The inheritance of scab resistance in wheat is controlled by nuclear genes. The experimental results indicated that the resistence to scab of Wangshui Bai, Sumai 3 and its derivative variety Ning 7840 was high and stable and appeared to be dominant with better combining ability. The inheritance of scab resistance seems to be governed by two or three genes. Aside from the major genes, certain minor modifiers might be involved.3. The results also demonstrated that Sumai 3 is one of the best varieties with high resistance, and tis resistance to scab can he easily transfered to its progenies. Some lines with high resistance to scab and other diseases, together with better agronomic characters, are derived from the crosses between Sumai 3 and Aurora which carries the 1B/1R chromosome translocation.4. The object of wheat breeding for scab resistance is to develop new cultivars with resistance to other diseases, high-yielding quality, and broad adaptability. Therefore, it is neccessary to use complex crosses such as multiparental sequential crossing and continuous single-plant selections in each succeeding generation under conditions of artificial inoculation.

我们自1975年起开展小麦抗赤霉病育种的研究,其结果为:(1)大量的选种材料在病圃采用土表接菌法进行初筛,高代品系在病圃保湿条件下采用滴菌或注射接菌法进行复筛,优良高代抗赤霉病品系在流行地区进行多点鉴定。用这些方法可以有效地鉴定赤霉病抗性的强弱和稳定性。(2)小麦赤霉病抗性遗传是由细胞核基因控制的。试验结果指出,望水白、苏麦3号及其衍生品种宁7840)对赤霉病抗性表现强而稳定,呈显性、配合力较好。抗赤霉病遗传似是由2-3对基因所支配。除主效基因外,还有一定数量的微效修饰基因。(3)苏麦3号是最好的抗赤霉病品种之一,其抗性容易传给后代。一些品系具有高抗赤霉病和其它病害的能力,农艺性状较好,是苏麦3号与具有1B/1R染色体易位系阿芙乐尔杂交的后代。(4)小麦抗赤霉病育种目标在于选育兼抗其它病害、高产和广泛适应性。因此,需要采用复合杂交,例如多亲本连续杂交以及各代在人工接种条件下用单株连续选择方法。

本工作以改进八倍体小黑麦与六倍体小黑麦的经济性状为目的,对60个杂交组合 F_1的田间出苗率、结实率、杂种后代的性状分离、新类型的形成以及细胞遗传的若干问题进行了探讨,观察到 F_1田间出苗率、结实率以八倍体为母本的杂交组合显著好于以六倍体为母本的杂交组合。由于杂种是普通小麦、硬粒小麦、黑麦三个物种种质的再度组合,后代分离复杂,出现一些新性状,选择的机率大。分析几个以八倍体小黑麦为母本的稳定品系,看到农艺性状、种子饱满度较六倍体小黑麦有较大的改进,用 Giemsa C 带技术对22个稳定的六倍体小黑麦类型的染色体构成进行分析,其中17个 R 组齐全,4个缺2R,1个缺2R、3R、4R,说明八倍体小黑麦与六倍体小黑麦杂交,R 组染色体是有变化的,有的被 D 组染色体代换。某些株系的黑麦染色体端部异染色质有丢失或削减,这种现象与结实率、种子饱满度是否有关,尚需作进一步观察。
