The teaching of the Chinese Language is the teching of the mother tongue.Composition teaching, as a cmponent part of the Chinese language teaching, must ponder over the aims, functions and approaches according to the characteristics of the teaching of the mother tongue. Traditionally, one's languge level and writing ability are regnded as the same thing. But, this concept is connected with feudalism. Even today this concept is still the obstacle in our way back to our proposition, which explains why there are still many accepted concepts and practices opposed to the principle of the teaching of the mothertongue.

语文教育是母语教育。作为语文教育组成部分的作文教育,必须根据母语教育的特点来思考自己的目的、功能和途径。传统语文观念把人的语文水平等同于其所作道德文章的水平。这种观念是和封建专制主义相联系的。时至今日它仍然是妨碍我们回到语文教育是母语教育这个基本命题上来思考问题的主要障碍。时下关于作文教育的许多说法和做法,虽然和母语教育的特点相径庭,但却又为人们普遍接受,原因正在于此。

Topic-Type Composition Teaching Methodology' is the result of the development of 'quality education'. It lays emphasis on developing students' potentialities, 'creative learning' and 'developing learning' for the purpose of promoting their individual development and study motivation. At present, this methodology has fully developed its theoretical system and been recognized by the society.
