The gain rate of PPP from undried filature pupae is 16.7%, while from pupae free from water and fat——65.37%. The nutritional evaluation showed that the protein content is about 84%, the essential amino acid (EAA) content is high, the ratio of the EAAs just meets the needs of human body and the amino acid scores, according Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) pattern, are over 0.94 in PPP from Chinese silkworm or tussah pupae. Moreover, the contents of some vitamins and trace elements, such as riboflavin, nicotinic acid, zinc, iron, copper, calcium and others, are all abundant in PPP. The child-and animal-feeding tests show that PPP possesses the notable effect of accelerating growth and healthgiving advantage. The PPP, as a good insect protein supplement of foodstuff, is being put into market.
