In order to decrease sintering temperature and enhance the properties of a tungsten heavy alloy W-Ni-Fe by means of activated sintering, such as activated liquid phase sintering and mechanical activation, the following tests have been made: (1)Adding Coand Mn Powders into the alloy to reduce the matrix melting temperature and accelerate the dissolution and diffusion of W into the inatrix-binder phase (i. e. activated liquid phase sintering) ; (2)High energy ball milling of the initial...

In order to decrease sintering temperature and enhance the properties of a tungsten heavy alloy W-Ni-Fe by means of activated sintering, such as activated liquid phase sintering and mechanical activation, the following tests have been made: (1)Adding Coand Mn Powders into the alloy to reduce the matrix melting temperature and accelerate the dissolution and diffusion of W into the inatrix-binder phase (i. e. activated liquid phase sintering) ; (2)High energy ball milling of the initial powder mixtures (i. e. mechanical alloying (MA)). The results show that the liquid phase sintering of 95W-3. 5Ni-1. 5Fe is activated by the Co addition. After addingCo,no only the sintering temperature decreased by 3O℃ ~50℃, but also the mechanical properties are improved and stabilized. Although the Mn addition has very low melting temperature, the same a1loy is not activated by the Mn addition due to solubility limitation. During MA, there are several activated mechanisms, including fine grain activation, mechanical activation and prealloying activation. After MA the sintering temperature of the nanocrystailine composite decreases t0 below melting temperature (1465℃) of thematrix, and the alloy has high tensile properties.

实验采用2种方法:(1)添加合金元素以降低第二相熔点,促进W向粘结相中扩散和溶解(又称活化液相烧结);(2)将原始混合粉末高能球磨(又称机械合金化)。实验结果表明:添加合金元素Co可起到活化液相烧结的作用,烧结温度可降低30℃~50℃,同时可提高和稳定性能;Mn的熔点虽低,但不能满足溶解度要求,没有起到活化烧结作用;高能球磨综合了细晶活化、机械活化和预合金化等机制,使烧结温度降低到第二相熔点(1465℃)下,同时具有高的拉伸性能,较好地实现了强化烧结。
