The Koterayama's method of hydrodynamic effect in single mooring chain is expanded to multi-mooring chain. This paper describes some problems about the technical performance in de sign of a buoy, which includes: basic elements, the essentials of design,calculating procedures, the range of values adopted, as well as the relation be tween the mooring depth and mooring chain of buoy, etc. Combing with the management experiences,the author provides some technical suggestions and the calculating methods for design and manufacture of buoy and, at the same time, makes brief description on the theoretical basis that enables the navigational workers to be familiar with buoy's performance, so as to grasp and use them correctly.

By using the real curve of mooring chain-catenary, static analysis ormooring structure of pontoon fastened by four splayed chains under external load is given and calculation formula is derived from the curve. Design procedures of mooring structure are discussed and calculated example is given.
