Tu-Jin-Pi, the bark of Pseudolarix kaempferi, Gord.(Pinaceae) has been used in our country for the treatment of skin diseases caused by fungi. Three novel diterpenic acids, pseudolaric acids A, B, and C were isolated from the bark. The structures of pseudolaric acid A and B were established as 1 and 2 respectively by chemical, spectral and X-ray diffraction methods.Pseudolaric acid A, C_(22)H_(28)O_6, m. p. 218~219℃ and B, C_(23)H_(28)O_8, m. p. 145~146℃. Both acids possess a methyl group attached to a tertiary carbon and a side chain with α β,γ δ-dienoic acid structure which was elucidated by ~1H NMR spectrum. Both acids possess an acetoxy functional group which may be hydrolyzed by aqueous KOH and the free alcohol reacetylated by Ac_2O-pyridine. Both acids possess a lactone ring that is resistant to hydrolysis and it was identified through IR and ~(13)C NMR spectra. The only structural difference between the two acids are located on the following parts: pseudolaric acid A(CH=CCH_3) and B(CH=CCO_2CH_3). By methylation with diazomethane, pseudolaric A forms a methyl ester, while B forms a methyl ester with the addition of another mole of CH_2N_2. The latter was shown to possess the following partial structure:The carbon skeleton was established by X-ray diffraction analysis of pseudolaric acid A. The methyl esters of deacetyl pseudolaric acid A and B were dehydrated readily with thionyl chloride-pyridine. ~1H NMR examinations on these dehydration products with INDOR technique showed that they possess the following partial structure respectively:These results further support the assignment of the structures 1 and 2 for pseudolaric acid A and B.

The chemisorption types of CO on Pd/Al2O3 of different Pd contents and dispersions and their relation to the product distribution in surface hydrogenation of adsorbed CO have been investigated.The amount of adsorbed CO increases gradually with Pd content increased from 0.1 to 6.0% by wt. Three peaks were observed during the TPD run of CO adsorbed on the Pd catalysts at room temperature. With A12O3, 0.02 and 0.1% Pd/Al2O3, the TPD peaks are rather small, but they grow up very rapidly with increase in Pd content....

GC analysis showed that the desorbed product of the low and medium temperature peaks consisted mainly of CO, while that of the high temperature peak, mainly CO2. It seems that CO2 was formed from surface disproportionation of the adsorbed CO on Pd, as evidenced from the fact that methane was formed with H2 admitted to the catalyst after TPD run and heated at above 200℃.IR spectra were taken for CO adsorbed on catalysts of different Pd contents and dispersions at PCO = 25 torr. Generally speaking, bands are appeared at 2083-2091 and 1940 -1964 cm-1, usually assigned as L (linear) and B (bridge) form of adsorbed CO. However, with decreasing Pd content, the intensity of B band was gradually diminished even vanished, while that of L band was somewhat decreased. For catalysts of larger Pd crystallite size, some of the B bands evanesced gradually till disappeared completely.When the adsorbed CO was heated to 150℃, the remained adsorbed CO showed no more L band with part of the B band persisted in the IR spectra, showing greater stability of the CO adsorbed in B form.TPSR was carried out on the Pd-adsorbed CO in H2 stream. Three peaks were also observed. The low and medium peaks composed mainly of CO and CO2 with trace of CH4. The high temperature peak is a very-strong peak composed essentially of CH4. This suggests that part of CO strongly chemisorbed on Pd is an active form, which is susceptible to disproportionat on reaction in He atmosphere, as could be seen from TPD results, and to hydrogenation in H2 atmosphere, as substantiated in TPSR data. It is intended to ascribe this active CO as bridged form.
