    Thyrotropin, TT3, TT4, growth hormone and prolactin responses to TRH stimulating test with different doses or TRH were measured in 27 normals, and the bioactivities of TRH from 6 different laboratories were compared. Serum TSH and PRL levels were increased following an intravenous injection of 25/ug TRH and significant increases in TSH, TT3 and PRL levels were noted at a dose of 100ug, but no further increment was observed with larger doses of TRH (up to 1,500ug). Serum GH response to TRH varied greatly in normals....

The results of TRH test (250ug) in 27 normals indicated that the TSH response in females were greater than that in males, and that TT3 response appeared as early as at 20 min following TRH while the peak value was at between 120 and 180 min and there was a significant increase in TT4 at 180 min following TRH.

The recovery rates from tetrodotoxin spiked samples of this method were 73.8%~117.4%. The accuracy of ELISA was compared with the traditional mouse bioassay system. The results showed no significant differences between the two methods (for paired t test, P>0.2), and significant correlations in tetrodotoxin concentration were obtained (r=0.916).
