An automatic and accurate moving object extraction algorithm is proposed to segment head-shoulder video sequence. First, an improved background registration technique is provided to construct a reliable background image. The moving object region is then detected by combining the background difference with the frame difference. Then, a new temporal filter and a post-processing step are applied on the detected change to improve the temporal coherence and spatial integrity. Finally,an improved watershed algorithm is proposed to locate the precise video object boundary, with significant reduction of computation compared to conventional watershed algorithm. Experimental results show that the proposed method can segment the head-shoulder video object, provide accurate object boundary and meet the real-time requirement.

For real-time detection of moving object,the general and simple method is based on background image difference.However,it requires the accurate current background image,and so far,no reasonable approach has been designed and implemented for automatic background updating along with the illumination variance,which limits its applications.To overcome the above problem,a new self-adaptive background approximating and updating algorithm based on optical flow theory is first presented in this paper.Moreover,the difference image is obtained by using a color image difference model,and then a self-adaptive thresholding segmentation method for moving object detection based on Gauss model is developed and implemented.Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed new background updating method can update the background exactly and quickly along with the variance of illumination,and the self-adaptive thresholding segmentation method based on Gauss model can extract the moving object regions accurately and completely,which is the foundation for further objects recognition and understanding.

在运动目标的实时检测中常用的方法是背景图像差分法,但因其缺乏背景图像随监视场景光照变化而及时更新的合理方法,限制了本方法的适应性.对此,本文首先提出了一种基于光流场等技术的自适应背景逼近更新方法,并根据彩色差值模型得到差分图像;然后引入Gauss模型实现运动目标的自适应阈值分割.实验结果表明:本文提出的背景更新方法可随着光照条件的变化实时、准确地更新背景图像,在此基础上提出的基于Gauss模型的自适应阈值分割方法可以实现运动目标的完整分割,这为运动目标的后续识别与理解奠定了基础.

A new method for locating moving targets and extracting moving object regions from image based on color image sequence is proposed. Firstly,color image sequences are differenced to locate moving targets. Then color difference images are transformed to binary images by selecting a threshold. In order to exclude the influences of camera vibration and background objects sway,symmet-rical difference are adopted. Finally,projection algorithm is used to extract moving target regions from images. The method for remov-ing impurity regions and the method for combining target regions are imported to obtain exact and continuous moving target regions. The experiment results show the method is able to locate moving target and extract moving target regions efficiently and quickly.

提出一种基于彩色序列图像提取移动目标区域的新方法。首先采用时态差分法进行运动目标定位,对彩色序列图像进行差分;然后通过选择阈值将彩色差分图像转化为二值图像;为了克服背景扰动和摄像头抖动,采用了对称差分算法,使得运动目标的定位更为准确。最后在对称差分的基础上,通过投影提取移动目标区域,为了消除扰动造成的影响,采用了杂块去除和区域合并方法。实验结果表明所提方法能有效快速地提取出移动目标。
