This paper, so as to achieve Nida's functional equivalence, endeavors to seek a better way to deal with rhetorical differences in translation.

It is proposed that for different types of movie placards, there are different translation strategies. In addition to the differences in types, other factors, such as language difference, cultural difference, rhetorical difference and the commercial value of movies should be taken into consideration comprehensively in doing the translation.

The present study explores the English - Chinese CR research by contrasting the rhetorical structures in published English argumentative texts by English and Chinese natives. It is hoped that the study helps to promote our understanding of the rhetorical differences between English and Chinese within the socio - cultural contexts, and thus to improve the Chinese speakers' ESL writing skills.

本文在语言学研究领域的新兴学科——对比修辞学(contrastiverhetoric)的范畴内,以国内外正式发表的英文论证语篇为语料进行英汉对比修辞的实证研究。从宏观交际单元的角度,对32篇样文的语篇宏观结构逐一进行解析。通过对比分析NS组(nativespeaker)和NNS组(non-nativespeaker)样文修辞结构的统计图表,揭示出英汉语言修辞结构的差异,并从语言哲学的高度探讨差异的深层根源,启示中国的ESL(英语作为第二语言)学习者树立英汉语篇思维模式差异的认识,在ESL写作中有意识地运用符合英语修辞习惯的语篇组织模式。
