He analyzed in detail the influence of major geolo-gical and engineering factors on collapse and the "combined effects" whenthey "overlapped" and developed the "numerical equation of quantitativeindex for prediction" as well as the prediction method of"integrated multi-factor index". According to the quantitative index, the possibility, time, scaleand types of collapses of hard and soft rocks can be predicted respectively,hence designers and workers can use it as a scientific basis for more accu-rate prediction of collapses. Carried out one after another section, treatment was made efficiently.
