In this paper, the research about the temporal and supersonic spatial developing shear layer where the convective Mach number is 0.5, 0.9, and 1.4 is conducted by using a hybrid fourth order, spectrum-relation preservation difference scheme and boundary processing methods based on characteristic signal propagation. The purpose is to investigate preliminarily the evolution pattern of the unstable structure in shear layer and the difference between the temporal and supersonic spatial developing shear layer. The research shows that, for temporal developing shear layer: (1) When Me=1.4, the evolution pattern of the flow structure is: the center structures of the pressure extremum are generated in the shear layer, the maximal and minimal points distribute alternatively. The center structures further develop and split in the cross direction, and saddle-point structures of the pressure contour emerge in the shear layer. After splitting, new center structures will be generated again and the saddle points will emerge later. Finally there are combinations of centers and saddle points in the shear layer. The compressive waves outside the shear layer will propagate along the direction of the characteristic lines and enforce to form the shocklet structures, and finally the flow field includes many compressive and expansive waves. The stream-wise periodic features are not damaged in the time of computation. (2) When Mc=0.5, the initial stream wise periodic structore will gradually lose its stability after some time. In the case that the computation length is equal to two-wave length of the disturbance, the further evolution of the stirring vortexes is rotational pairing. (3) For Mc=0.9, the pattern lies between the two formers. For the spatial problem with the same convective Mach number, the difference with the temporal problem becomes lager as along with the enlargement of spatial distance because the viscous effect and damage of the periodic feature. Comparatively speaking, the difference between the temporal and spatial problem at high convective Mach number is obviously larger than the one at low convective Mach number.
