Maximum concentration of lignin is found in the inter-fiber zones, whereas more uniform but lower concentrations are observed in the bulk of the cell walls.Due to heterogeneity and polydispcrity, no definite structure has thus far been claimed for lignin.Howcver, it is generally acknowledged that lignins are dchydrogcnative polymerization products of three phcnylpropanoid monomers, namely p-coumaryl alcohol, coniferyl alcohol and sinapyl alcohol, and that they are predominately linked through arylglycerol-β-aryl ether bondings and also some carbon-to-carbon linkages.The chemical and physical properties of milled wood lignin and industrial lignins arc briefly reviewed.And important chemical reactions relating to pulping and bleaching are described.The utilization of commercial lignins (lignosulfonate and kraft lignin) is reported.Annual consumption of lignin in the Western world amounts to 500,000 tons in 1985,with steady growth in recent years,mainly as surfactants, dispersants, binders etc.Even though lignosulfonatcs have been used in China for quite some years, the market is still awaiting further and better exploitation. Most of the lignin products sold in China are in the non-modified forms, and as liquids of 25-35% solids.A sulfonatcd kraft lignin product, the first one of the kind in the country,has recently emerged on the market. Vanillin from a sulphite mill in the South has been exported abroad for many a year.Howcver, most of the lignin-containing black liquors and ammonium-based spent sulfite liquors from medium and small sized enterprises are currently being discharged directly into the water-way pausing hazardous pollution to the cnvironment.It is imperative,therefore,that efforts be made to develop useful lignin products for various industrial needs.

Up till now, most numerical solutions to Partial Elastohydrodynamic Lub-rication (PEHL) problems are limited to light and moderate loads [2-4]. Nevertheless, the load isstill lower than those encountered in nonconformal machine elements employedin industry. In order to satisfy industrial need for higher loads, the present paper, star-ting from the authors' previous study [5], develops a new calculation model ofPEHL. The Newton-Raphson iteration approach is also used in the currentstudy. It is well known that in PEHL calculations, with increasing load, boththe difficulty in attaining a convergent solution and the time of iteration requ-ired increase very rapidly. The authors overcome these difficulties by applyingmathematical techniques-gradient method and variable relaxation factor. Theiteration speed is faster than that of Ref. [7] at the same relative error (Theconvergent result for W=10×10~(-4) in this paper is obtaned by iterating 20 times,but that for W=2.3×10~(-4) in Ref. [7] is obtained by iterating 40 times). Theconvergent solution obtained in this paper at W=10×10~(-4) is believed to be theresult for the heavist load so far published.

本文获得了中轻载及重载工况下粗糙表面间的等温部分弹流线接触问题的完全数值解,求得了在有表面粗糙影响的条件下,线接触润滑的流体动压力和粗糙度接触压力、油膜厚度以及接触载荷,并且研究了粗糙度及其纹理方向对线接触弹流润滑中的接触载荷、中心膜厚、最小膜厚以及二次压力峰的大小和位置的影响,同时也研究了部分弹流润滑条件下,各种工况参数变化对润滑性态的影响。
