Marked activity of bis-(p-aminophenoxy)-alkanes(Ⅰ)against schistosomiasiswas recently reported abroad.However,these compounds had a toxic effect onvision,and appeared to be much less active against schistosomiasis japonicumfrom the trials made in this country.Since the replacement of amino groups bysubstituted mercapto groups in many medicinal agents often reduced their toxicities,it was felt advisable to synthosize α,ω-bis-(p-alkyhnercaptophenoxy)-alkanos(Ⅱ)for pharmacological examination.The oxidation of the disulphides would give ano-ther now series of related compounds,the disulphones(Ⅲ).The condensation of p-methylmercaptophonol or p-ethylmercaptophonol withα,ω-dibromoalkanes in the presence of potassium hydroxide in boiling ethanolicsolutions gave the expected α,ω-bis-(p-alkyl-morcaptophenoxy)-alkanes(Ⅱ;R=CH_3 or C_2H_5,n=4—7).These disulphides wore oxidized to the correspondingdisulphones(Ⅲ)by moans of porhydrol,potassium permanganate or chromicanhydride.Although good yields of the sulphones were afforded by any of theoxidizing agents mentioned,it was found that the chromic anhydrido method wasthe most convenient one.The disulphides wore dissolved in glacial acetic acid,andsolid chromic anhydride was added in small portions.The oxidizing agent readilydissolved,while heat was generated during reaction.On pouring onto ice thesulphones readily separated.In the course of the oxidation by means of perhydrol,large volume of acetone was required to cause a homogeneous reaction mixture.Similar difficulty was encountered in using potassium permanganate which is onlyslightly soluble in organic solvents.

In the present work,by using potassium nitrateglucose as an enriched medium,isolation is made first by spreading on agar plates containing glucose and peptone of lower concentration(Medium S),and then by subcul- ting on agar plate containing casitone and glycerine (Medium G) until a pure cuiture is obtained. The tricome-forming bacteria so isolated are characterized as follows: Sheath prominent;cells are rods,1.20x1.90μ;appeared in chains within a sheath of uniform width;Gram negative;attiring motile (subpolar flagella) when in a liquid medium.Colonies on plate containing MnCO_3 are whitish and unable to oxidize manganous compounds.Liquefaction of gelatin slight;sometimes with false branching;never fermentative. By using casamino acid as a rich organic nitrogen sourse,better growth and a Smooth type of colonies are obtained (S-type),cells of which are usually large and almost sheathless.On poor growing medium (Medium S), a filamentous and rough type of colonies appeared (R type),the cells of which are smaller and sheathed.Colonies shown a transition between smooth-rough type are also appeared on medium of different composition and concentration. By the characterisitics discribed,this trichomeforming bacterias is identified as Sphaerotilus natans.The principal cheracters of its two strains isolated (FD-7611 and E-773) are similar.

多年来对于废水处理的研究(包括城市生活污水和工业废水),在物理学、化学、生物学等方面都进行许多工作。在实践中逐渐认识到,通过生物学的方法,也就是通过微生物生物化学的方法处理废水,是解决水污染的重要途径之一,因而得到极其广泛的应用。废水所进行的微生物生化处理研究工作中,为了进一步搞清微生物作用的机理,有必要对废水处理中的微生物群体(包括活性污泥和生物膜)进行较深入的研究。而丝状微生物是群体中重要的一类,其中尤以具衣鞘的球衣细菌的作用更为突出。因此,对球衣细菌的控制利用,成为废水生物学处理中一个引人注目的课题,为此我们对球衣细菌进行了研究。本文包括球衣细菌纯种分离技术的研究,球衣细茵分离菌株的鉴定及其存活时间的研究。
