    A new non-intrusive measuring system--"microcomputer-controlled color-changeable high speed stroboscopic photography system" is employed in this paper, which can successful measure particle motion during bubble eruption. New phenomenon of existence of two point-eddies in the bubble wake is found and the mechanism of particle entrainment and elutriation due to bubble eruption is sought. The initial particle velocity distributions just after bubble eruption under different test runs are measured which provide important experimental data to the calculation of particle movements later ie the freeboard. In addition, particle velocities and tracks in the dilute phase caused by bubble eruption are measured.In view of the new findings and velocity distribution obtained from the experiments, a theoretical model about particle motion in bubble eruption area is proposed, which has distinguishing feature due to some construction suggestions such as bubble form, bed surface shape, calculation of gas flow field, etc. Results from model calculation agree well with the experimental data.
