Three clay slides,the Xieliupuo,Huama and Lubanguo landslides,were visi- ted.The displacement-directions of the three slides consistently have strikes of N270°—280°W,i.e.~EW. In order to find a possible connection of the slides and the debris-flows with the prevailing neotectonic conditions,226 joint orientations have been measur- ed.The preferential joint orientations are N164°E and N82~°E.Accordingly,they are considered as the two shear directions of the local neotectonic stress field; thus,one of the principal stress directions has an orientation near N33°E,the other near N123°E,the first of these azimuths corresponding to the maximum com- pression.One of the shears (N82°E,i.e~EW)can be compared with the dis- placement-directions of the three slides. The “mean” direction of the debris-gullies in the Wudu region is calculated to be N112°±4°E;this means that it is roughly perpendicular to the maximum neo- tectonic compression direction.This is a condition prone to cause collapse of the gully wails and to cause debris flows.This may be the reason why the Wudure- gion is a serious debris-flow area. It is found that the intensity of antagonistic effects can be estimated with Strahler's hypsometric curve.The F-value of this curve of the Bailong River drainage area in Wudu is the biggest in South Gansu.This may be also a cause of the serious debris-flow risk in the Wudu region.

In this paper, the authers consider that focal stress fields have complicatedly trasformed in earthquake sequence according ot P-axis and T-axis trend variation of the focal mechanisms of main shock, aftershock and lats-after shocks. Tectonic stress, and seismo-genetic were discussed from the data of geotectonic and crust deformation . As a result, difference of sliding velocity in nouthwest blocks of Cangcheng-Hailing fault and Pinggang fault wihich slide by a left-lateral induce to the tensile stress mechanisms in Yangbian bay and model of earthquake activities under the N-S horizontal tectonic compression . The data getting from the scene can be rationally explained by this model.

The shaping of Qiyang arc and the development of Jura-type folds are resulted from the decollement between pre-Devonian basement and its cover under eastwest compressive stress field. The marine strata with different anti-deformability in the cover formed polydirectional and polyphase decollements under the tectonic compression and gravitational sliding. According to the feature of the decollement,Lianyuan sag can be divided into 3 subregions,i.e,east part,central part and west part.
