Maize is the third most important crop in the world and China.The average of maize production area in China is 24 5 million ha;the average maize yield is 4 96 ton per ha China ranks the second in the world in terms of total maize area and production.The rate of maize yield growth has being declining due to narrow genetic background and limited new heterotic patterns since 1970s.The role of tropical and subtropical maize germplasm in maize improvement was discussed in this paper.It was concluded that the Chinese maize germplasm background should be broaden by using the tropical and subtropical maize germplasm.The new heterotic patterns should be developed and new hybrids with super heterosis could be bred,the methods of using tropical and subtropical maize germplasm were pointed out in this paper.

我国近几年平均每年种植玉米 2 45 0万公顷 ,平均产量为每公顷 4 96吨 ,种植面积和总产量居世界第二位。但 70年代以来我国玉米增产率呈下降趋势 ,玉米生产一直处于徘徊状态 ,其主要原因是国内种质资源匮乏 ,缺乏新的杂种优势群和杂种优势模式。分析热带、亚热带外来玉米种质在我国玉米育种中的作用后 ,指出利用玉米起源中心的热带、亚热带种质可以拓宽温带种质的玉米遗传基础 ,构建新的杂种优势模式 ,产生出超强优势的杂交玉米新组合 ;提出了热带、亚热带外来玉米种质的利用途径及方法。

Ten tropical and subtropical maize populations from CIMMYT were top-crossed with five Chinese elite inbred lines by North Carolina Ⅱ(NCⅡ)mating system in 1998 and 1999 at Wuhan,and combining ability and utilization potential of ten populations were evaluated.The results showed that Pop.43,Pop.21 and Pop.Stay Green were the best general combiners for grain yield,and Mo17×Pop.43,Zi330×Pop.43,Dan340×Pop.21 and Mo17×Pop.Stay Green possessed the highest yield and relative heterosis among fifty top-crosses.Ten...

以 5个中国主要玉米自交系为测验种 ,采用NCⅡ遗传交配设计 ,对 10个热带、亚热带玉米群体的配合力效应及利用潜力进行评价。两年研究结果表明 ,群体 2 1、群体 43和群体StayGreen的产量一般配合力依次最高 ,利用潜力较大 ;参试的 5 0个顶交组合中 ,Mo17×群体 43、自 330×群体 43、丹 34 0×群体 2 1和Mo17×群体StayGreen4个组合特殊配合力较大 ,产量最高 ,对照优势最大。根据单株产量特殊配合力结合一般配合力效应 ,将 10个热带、亚热带玉米群体初步划分 5群 ,其中Tuxpeno群、StayGreen群和P5 0 0群一般配合力较高 ,为我国温带玉米育种具有潜在利用价值的 3个杂种优势群。研究结果为进一步利用这些外来种质提供了信息
