Growth of the height(H) and diameter(Dbh) had been investigated by sampling method in a 8-year fast-growing stand of Larix olgensis in the Toudao forestry farm,Chaihe forestry bureau. Based on the analysis of growth characters of the fast-growing stand, the gross mean tree height,its annual increase and other growth information about this species between the fast-growing stand and the normal stand have been compared.The results indicated that tree growth rate of the fast-growing stand was very high,the gross mean height was 4.31 m and the gross mean Dbh was 4.34 cm,which were 40-50% heigher than the normal stand.In fast-growing stand, the gross mean annual height increment in 3 years exceeded 1.0 m/a and had the trend of increasing.Some of dominant individuals had arrived at 1.8-1.9 m/a.That was magical in temperate zone and had not been reported. The gross mean tree height and Dbh of the fast-growing stand was the same with results of provenance trials of this species, but the mean tree height and Dbh of dominant individuals exceeded the best one of the various provenances up to now.To sum up,this fast-growing population was the best that had ever been known.
