This literature analyzed causes of Longitudinal cracks initiating on the surface of concasting slab produced by the extra low head continuous caster at No. 3 Steel Plant of Maanshan Iron & Steel Company and probed the effects of chemical compositions of molten steel, overheating, Mn/s and volume of specific water on the surface cracks indicating that to prevent longitudinal surface cracks attention should be paid to the following aspects: 1)[P + S]<0.05%> Mn/S>24; 2) precooling be weakened and volume of specific water for secondary cooling be lowered by 20% and nozzles for secondary cooling well maintained. It is found out that surface cracking rate of Q235 slab comes up to its climax at 0.15% carbon content.

The grade and distribution of inclusion in (800~1200)mm×180 mm concasting slab produced by extra-low head concaster have been analyzed. The inclusions in slab mainly consist of complex inclusions and MnS, and the amount of inclusion obviously increases at inside of slab due to the small curve-shaped radius of extra-low head concaster.

分析了 (80 0~ 1 2 0 0 )mm× 1 80mm超低头连铸板坯夹杂物的类型和分布 ,板坯中的夹杂物主要由复合夹杂和MnS组成 ,因超低头连铸机弧形半径较小 ,板坯内侧夹杂数量明显增多
