The measurement and characterization of the rheological properties of short fiber/rubber composites(SFRC) were introduced.The dependences of the rheological properties of SFRC on the characteristics of short fiber and matrix,the amount and length of short fiber,temperature and shear rate in flow field were discussed.The relations between processing and rhelogy of SFRC were analyzed and some proposals to the extruded hose of SFRC were given.

Some interesting unresolved problems of roughness measurement and characterization are discussed,such as reference surfaces, filters, master specimens for roughness analysis, characterizing parameters etc. In 3-D analysis it is necessary to adopt numerical filtering so as to retain the sampling data integrality. Gaps in the present instrumental coverage of range resolution space are identified. Then the fabrications and calibrations of the master step-height specimens for surface analysis are introduced....

Some interesting unresolved problems of roughness measurement and characterization are discussed,such as reference surfaces, filters, master specimens for roughness analysis, characterizing parameters etc. In 3-D analysis it is necessary to adopt numerical filtering so as to retain the sampling data integrality. Gaps in the present instrumental coverage of range resolution space are identified. Then the fabrications and calibrations of the master step-height specimens for surface analysis are introduced. For lacking the compatibility of software packages, timely development of "soft gauge" is advocated. Finally, the trends in surface texture analysis are suggested.
