The minimum cylindrical envelope method (MCEM), a new method for spatial straightness error evaluation, is proposed. Nonlinear mathematical model for spatial straightness error evaluation is firstly established in this paper based on the minimum zone condition. According to the error analysis it is proved that the mathematical model for spatial straightness error evaluation can not be linearized. The criterion for the verification of the existence and uniqueness of the minimum zone solution is proposed. A new computational method is also proposed and a practical example is given. Finally the correctness of this method is demonstrated using geometrical solution. This new method is convenient in computation to high accuracy.

本文首先按最小条件建立了评定空间直线度误差的非线性数学模型。通过误差分析,从理论上证明了该数学模型不能进行线性化处理,并提出了最小条件判别准则。文中给出了计算机评定空间直线度误差的实例。最后用几何方法验证了其判别的正确性。
