Supports mixed with different ratio of a-Al2O3 and TiO2 have been used for the preparation of supported Ni-catalysts by wet impregnation. The effects of the TiO2 content in supports on the rates of carbon formation were investigated at the condition of steam reforming of n-heptane in a dynamic thermogravimetric system. The effect of titania on the rate of carbon formation was briefly discussed on the basis of the mechanism of carbon deposition.

The effect of introducing Mo into supported Ni catalyst on catalyst activity and selectivity for the liquid-phase hydrogenation o(?) maleic anhydride to tetrahy-drofuran and 1,4-butanediol was studied.It was found that the introduction of Moto Ni catalyst obviously favored formation of 1,4-butanediol.The supported Ni-Mocatalyst was also investigated by X-ray diffraction and temperature-programmed-reduction.It was showed that Mo incorporated with Ni crystal forming a solid sol-ution.Simple relationships existed between the Mo/Ni ratio,the crystal size andthe lattice constants of Ni-Mo solid solution.Experimental results indicated thatthere were intereactions between the metal and the support,and the reductionbehavior of Ni-Mo catalyst was different from that of Ni-catalyst.

It was found that the initial activity depended essentially on Ni state which was related to its interaction with the support. In preparation process, the conditions, such as calcining temperature and Ni loading, had a great effect on the interaction, and the formation of NiAl 2O 4 spinel decreased the activity at lower reaction temperature but enhanced...

In preparation process, the conditions, such as calcining temperature and Ni loading, had a great effect on the interaction, and the formation of NiAl 2O 4 spinel decreased the activity at lower reaction temperature but enhanced CO 2 conversion at higher reaction temperature. The heated or calcined support would increase the surface area of the catalyst, but have a little effect on its activity. Under the given conditions, the state and distribution of Ni phase would be related to Ni loading. The interaction between Ni and Al 2O 3 would be dominant for the catalyst with lower Ni loading. So it would lead to a maximum value of activity at lower reaction temperature, and lead to less carbon deposition.
