This paper proves that the analytical structure of typical fuzzy controllers is the sum of a global two dimensional multi level relay and a local linear PD controller. The output are given expressions for a typical fuzzy controller with five fuzzy sets for the input variables. These results are employed in a simulation of the model reference adaptive fuzzy control of an inverted pendulum.
