The computer simulation of shape and profile control characteristics of 900mmHC mill was carried out by using the third power spline streamline strip element method to analyze the three-dimensional plastic deformations of the strip, by using the influencing coefficient method to analyze the elastic deformations of rolls and by using the BP neural network method to recognize the rolled strip shape patterns. The simulation results indicate that in the HC mill, it has very capable to control the shape quadratic deviations and less capable to control the forth deviations and high power shapes, the middle roll positions and the work roll bending forces need to coordinate each other during controlling the shape and profile of rolled strip. The rolled strip profile should be controlled especially at the begin passes.
