Furthermore, it is often possible to transmit the SVLC code with very few bits. Higher compressing ratio can be achieved when this coding scheme is performed in different subbands of an image decomposed by wavelet transformation. The experimental results show that this algorithm is a remarkably effective compressing scheme, having the property that it is not only efficient, but also can be easily fulfilled in software programming.

简单变长编码是一种高效的编码方法 ,在符号概率的几种分布上效率接近哈夫曼编码 ,误差不超过 1% ,且通常可用很少的比特数来传输码字 .针对哈夫曼编码软、硬件实现复杂、费时较长的缺点 ,通过对图像信号的小波分解 ,在不同的子带上采用改进的简单变长编码方案 ,获得了更高的压缩比 .结果表明 ,该算法简单有效、易于编程实现 ,是一种高效的图像压缩方法
