Progress of the fracture will not along the original fracturing plane usually in case that the orientation of the horizontal hole is not coincide with the direction of the maximum horizontal stress. Some fractures exihibit the characteristics of the progress of type Ⅰ and Ⅱ composite fractures, such as a S-shaped fracturing plane. As it progress continuously, the fracturing plane will turn to a direction perpendicular to that of the maximum horizontal stress.

The relation ship among borehole stability, deviation angle, and orientation angle in the high structural belt is investigated. The true triaxial test is made in lab on sandstone. The results indicate the stability of deviated wells increases with deviation increment when the vertical stress is intermediate stress. When the three unequal stresses exist in three directions, the wells drilled parallel to the minimum horizontal stress will be more stable than those parallel the maximum horizontal stress.

The depression B is the deposition of a fan delta with braided river course which is controlled by two main rivers. The distribution of the maximum horizontal stress for the Teng 1 member of depression A was analyzed. It was found there exist different parts of the structure corresponding to the different depositional environment, and also the different distribution of the maximum horizontal stress. The information of double caliper enlarged direction, combined with the density, the vertical wave and the transverse wave, is used to e-liminate the influence of layer segments in collapsing borehole. Some samples are used to verify the importance of selecting parameters in high-steep structures and the explanation models of fault.
