The reticuloliths of dairy cattle were, for the first time,discovered and collected by the three authors, Chen Zhenlu, Wang Yuanlin and Wang Xiaolong,from ten cases of pericarditis in the dairy farms in the vicinity of Nanjing. Identified by various methods such as X-ray powder method, infrared analysis and D.T.A., microscopic studies,they are found to be composed almost entirely of one rare mineral, brushite CaHPO_4·2H_2O, while some of them may contain a small amount of another rare mineral,monetite CaHPO_4,...

Identified by various methods such as X-ray powder method, infrared analysis and D.T.A., microscopic studies,they are found to be composed almost entirely of one rare mineral, brushite CaHPO_4·2H_2O, while some of them may contain a small amount of another rare mineral,monetite CaHPO_4, usually not more than 5%.From the results of solubility tests and the investigations of the feeding con ditions in the dairy farms, we come to the conclusion that the origin and formation of these concretions are most probably due to overfeeding of Iimestone powder used as a kind of supplements with a view to protecting the cattle from osteomalacia.The perforation of the reticulum by a foreigh body, is a condition favorable for concretion formation,because in that case the rumen and reticulum movements will decrease or even be completely absent. And traumatic pericarditis is often a complication of traumatic reticulitis, which may cause the change of pH value of reticulum contents from 7.0— the value of a healthy aaimal—approximately to 8.0, a condition favorable for the precipitation of CaHPO_4·2H_2O.

关于乳牛网胃结石问题,在国内外文献中尚未见有报道。本文所用样品系作者陈振旅、王元林、王小龙三人近二十年内收集的。样品来自南京地区的某些乳牛场,病牛因患创伤性心包炎而死亡经解剖后取得,共8例,计50多颗。样品的室内测试鉴定工作,由季寿元、方金满、唐玉梅三人完成;成因问题的探讨,则以陈、王二人的意见为主合作写成。经初步研究,确定结石的主要成分为CaHPO_4·2H_2O,相当于矿物中的透磷钙石(brushite),在个别样品中尚有少量的三斜磷钙石(monetite)CaHPO_4存在。

By irradiating 0.50% PVAc/HPAM (1/1 by weight) at 25℃ by ultrasound of 18.2 kHz with 2.4 A imput current on reversed main circuit for a period of 10 min, the yield of copolymer amounted to 4.3%. Its structure was identified by means of solubility test, IR, NMR, element analysis, electron microscope and phase contrast microscope, and the copolymer was proved to be mainly a block one.
