At very high frequency, interconnects and packages can only be characterized by a set of sampled data from measurements or electromagnetic simulations over the frequency of interests. In order to accomplish the transient simulation, it is necessary to construct a rational approximation via interpolation based on these sampled data. However, rational interpolation is an high ill condition problem. This paper presents a stable algorithm to obtain the rational approximation from a set of sampled data by the use of bilinear transformation of the complex frequency.
