A smooth streamline body (or a sledge) with fairly support area should be adopted to reduce the ground contact pressure of tractor to 0.025-0.06 kg/cm2 and the maximum sinkage would exceed 5cm even it is working on the softest soil.(While the tractor is working the centre of gravity should be comedent with or close to the centre of buoyancy and the front part of the boat should lip up a little to reduce the sliding resistence)3. In order to get enough propulsive force from soil the tractor must equip with driving walking device with greater shearing area.It is desirable to make the device go into and out of the soil vertically.Only in this way can the tractor fully make use of soil strength and it's resistance can be reduced to a minimum.4. According to the working condition, the relative place between supporting walking device and driving walking device can be controlled automatically so that the tractor has minimum motion resistance while it develops the tractive force it needs, so as to obtain a higher tractive efficiency.Boat-tractors (paddy field boats), based on Buoying Principle, have been widely applid in the paddy fields where that orthodox tractor either can not work or with less efficiency.
