Unlike other proposals, this mechanism takes random frame loss into account. Moreover, an analytical model based on Markov chains is introduced for the mechanism. Numerical results show that the mechanism can simultaneously achieve higher system throughput and reduce system delay than the standard IEEE 802.11 distributed coordination funtion (DCF).
