This paper has reviewed the recent progress of researches on plant recombinant DNA technology in monocots in 1980s. It introduced various transgenic systems of rice, wheat and maize. The direct gene transfer systems involved the chemical method(PEG), electroporation, microinjection,particle bombardment, pollen-mediated gene transfer and other systems using various vectors. The paper also evaluated the technology of transferring gene into cereal crops.
