When the pressure ratio of a nozzle is higher than the critical ratio value, the flow oscillations and the associated discrete noise are significatly suppressed or even cease. Mechanism of this critical pressure ratio is explained by the explanation that acoustic feedback and receptivity diminish at high levels of underexpansion.... The feedback loop and associated discrete noise of oblique impinging jet are studied experimentally for the first time and the critical pressure ratio value is believed to be dependent on the distance between the nozzle and plate and impinging angle.
